What type is she?

uromastyx Apr 15, 2004 01:12 PM

I bought a trio of 'tree dragons' a while ago. Unfortunately two of them died (they were WC so it may have been stress) and I was left with a lone female. I have looked around for identification but can't seem to narrow it down much. Can any one help. Here is a picture of her.

First, the scales look too smooth, MHDs have interspersed larger tubercular scales.

Second the brow doesn't have much of a point, appears more rounded towards the back of the head.

Third, if you look at the tail it appears to be much more stout than that of an MHD which has a very thin tail.

Last, I agree that there don't appear to be any reminents of places where there would have been horns.

My first though was calotes but I'm not sure the head looks right for that species either. I did find a few that had the rays around the eyes but am just not sure.

So, what is it? I am not sure. I am hoping at this point that Ingo will jump in and shed some light!

She is pretty, but I cannot see the Horns to see how many she used to have
I do not even see old PButtons where they were broken off
Did/Soes she have Places where the horns were supposed to be on her head

The shape of her head indicates she might be young
How long is she (NVL or NTL)

Her markings are a little like one of my babies
but She does not resemble any of mine TOO closely

Joe or Marcia can help better than I

Thanks for all of your help. I do definaely think she's a Calotes sp. with versicolor being the most likely.
Thanks again
