Hi all, I just got my first BRB earlier this week, things are going great. I just want to know if anyone has used the Black or Red bulbs on the setup? If so, did this stress out the snake at all? Thanks.

Titus,
. I have used black bulbs and red bulbs. Commercially available colored bulbs let through quite a bit of white light and this will stress a Rainbow Boa. If you have to use colored light bulbs you can paint them with several coats of high temperature engine/exhaust paint and get them dark enough that they let through minimal white light. You will know that you have enough paint on them when you have to look closely at them to make sure they are on. An easier approach is to buy ceramic heat emitters instead of colored light bulbs. Ceramic heat emitters are more efficient, they are very durable and they last darned near forever.
Good luck,
Jeff
