Eco-earth making water brown.

Azureus_arrows Apr 15, 2004 01:57 PM

Some of the water from my waterfall falls out side it's intended route and mixes some Eco-earth in with the water making the shallow pool kind of brown. I plan on having a seperate water source for my arrows to drink from and the brown color doesnt bother me, but I just wanted to make sure, all though I pretty much am, that it will be okay if my frogs sip this from time to time.

Thanks.

Don't worry- you won't have any problem with your frogs drinking. They absorb moisture through their skin, and really don't even need a water source in the terrarium as long as the humidity is kept very high. most people just use it for looks or to keep the humidity up there.

I'm not entirely familiar with the contents of eco-earth, but any substrate containing coconut byproducts is going to leach some tannin which will turn the water sort of tea colored. And no, I would assume that this wouldn't harm the frogs in any way.
