Better sized caging dimensions for Phelsuma Grandis?

zeb Apr 15, 2004 02:42 PM

About a year ago I adopted a male P. Grandis, who had lived in a bare 10 gallon. I moved him into a 20 gallon extra high, which is like a 10 gallon but 24" high. I later removed him from it for alternate use, and put him in a 90 gallon measuring around 36" long, 18" deep, and 24" high.

In the 90 gallon, he never really moves much....just about the same amount he did in the other sized tanks. I'm thinking of something still verticle, but yet smaller...

Perhaps I will even get a female for him.

But what dimension would you suggest?

He's really not utilizing the space in the 90g terrarium, and though I don't know what would go well in it...I think I could find something.

Your comments are appreciated... Here is a shot of him, by the way.

a 20 gal like you are talking about can house a 1.1 pair if you wanted. To Uitilize the space in the 90 get 2 females and create a vivarium

A pair of grandis should be housed in at least a 29 gal tank. 20 gal is just too small.

You shouldn't put two females with one male because the female grandis tend to fight each other if the tank isn't big enough, and while a 90 gal might be big enough, there's just no good reason to risk it.
