Leucistic, Hypomelanistic, whatever you want to call it, if you're talking about the white ones it is a simple recessive trait (it better be for the $$$ I've got wrapped up in them). Meaning that you need 2 recessive genes to make it show. In theory LeucisticxLeucistic=100%Leucistic; LeucisticxAnything Else=100%Het Leucistic; Leucisticx100%Het Leucistic=50%Leucistic and 50% 100%Het Leucistic; and HetxHet=25%Leucistic 50% 100%Het 25%Whatever it was Het for. Does that make any sense? I know that they are not truely leucistic by the definition of the word but that is what they have been coined and probably what I'll call them also when I start producing them later this summer. Hope that helps

Do you have any pics of your Luecistic that you coulp post
The male at the top of this picture is 100% Luecistic. Sorry for the quality but I don't have anymore space to upload a better picture. He has clear fingernails and his coloring changes almost daily. He's fairly young and has some growing to do but he is an awesome animal.

100% leucistic or 100% het leucistic. Nothing against your dragon, it's beautiful but my hets are whiter than that. This is flake she's one of my leucistic x snows and shows almost no color, it was my impression that pure leucistics show absolutely no color.

This is her Dad, a pure leucistic. I don't own him but got the picture from the guy I bought her from. This is what I believe a pure leucistic should look like. Just my opinion, I may be wrong, like I said I haven't bred them yet so I can't say 100%

I dont think this is a leucistic, he doesn't have the clear nail trait, same for the eyes, from what i've read they leucistics must have darkblue or jet black eyes.

I know what you mean, unfortunately by deffinition true leucistics don't actually exist in the dragon world. What have been coined leucistic dragons are actually a real good hypomelenistic, I'm not sure why we just don't call them white and end the confusion.

As far as i know true leucistics can't produce colorpigment, this means that your "leucistic" can't be one.

My mistake that was a pic of my hypo/pastel. I am new to all this picture stuff. Sorry bout that.

So does that mean my LeucisticxOrange is 100%het and if she bred with a leucistic she could have around 50% leucistic babies?
or did i read it wrong and she would have a different about?
From what I understand, yes that would be true. I haven't tested it yet so I can't say 100% that it is a simple recessive trait but that is what I have been told by people I trust. On the pic request, sorry, I only have hets right now. Full leucistics are few and far between and you almost never see them for sale. I expect that some will hit the market this summer and I would guess that they would be from Dragons Den, Jason at beardeddragons.biz, I may sell a couple after I start producing them, and maybe a couple others but I doubt there will be too many out there.

Hopefully I will have some leucistics as well later this season. I have a huge het male just waiting for his het girls to gain those last few grams to be breeding size.
