I have a question about buying at the Daytona show in August?

Chameleon996 Apr 15, 2004 05:58 PM

I will be going to the show and I am still unsure as to whether or not I should have the lizards that I buy shipped home.

I am hopefully going to be bringing back a pair of Sambavas or Tamatavies, and probably a Snow Beardie. I have a few others on my list but I am limiting myself to bringing home 2 - 3 lizards and thats it.

I have already gotten cages to house them temporarily the night I will be staying in Daytona. My question is this. I am driving home and it is a 19 hour trip. Could I package them as if they were being shipped and transport them myself? It's about the same time if not less than if I had them shipped right?

I probably won't get them from the same breeder therefore I will have to pay three seperate shipping fees.

Also, why havn't I seen very many Diegos? Are they harder to keep?

I would package them as if they were being shipped. You won't have to worry about them being lost or the extra 40.00 for shipping per breeder to ship.
They arrive when you do and you can keep an eye on them..

I went to all 3 shows in Fla last year (as I live in Orlando), and let me tell you, Orlando's show was the best BY FAR!!!! I was so excited to go to Daytona because I heard such great things about it, and how it was the best show. Can I tell you how disappointed I was? Especially when it came to chameleons!!! There were 3 good vendors there, but they didn't have much, and the rest were sideliners that had a cage of VERY poor stock. Don't get me wrong, it's a great show if you're into snakes, turtles or bearded dragons. But if you're not, you may as well not waste your time. The Orlando show had an amazing varieyt of every kind of animal you can imagine. They had almost every locale of panther available. Many more good quality breeders showed up. It was clean, very well done. Anyways, just thought I'd give you a little heads up from a newbie, but a dedicated one.
