here is the image of him

Ok here is an image of him, i had to take it from out the tank because he's so snappy.. I also decovered that he's been bitten by something, he has at least 3-4 bite marks on him, not shure how old, but still deep and red. He's also dehydrated "i think" because the skin on his tale has stuck on and has started rotting off the end.. i'll post that pic next.. he's sitting in water outside right now.. hopefully that will help..

is it a black rat? or some sort of water snake?

I would guess Yellow-bellied water snake, Nerodia erythrogaster, but if not, it is defiantly a watersnake

Before that was mentioned. I have to look closer at the words spell check suggests for replacements. LOL In my defense, the look on that snake's face was defiant if you ask me.

Come on. There is nothing like having to peel a large Nerodia off your arm because his nice little teeth got stuck in your skin. God, I love the outdoors!

I have a nice scar that looks like I missed my wrist when trying to kill myself from a blue crab. It is rather nice haha. I got nipped by my green tree python once...that was not pleasant. Neither was getting two fingers swallowed by my african bullfrog.

If he loses the tail, no biggy. Many water snakes lose their tails anyway. They break off rather easily. Learned that the hard way when catching them. In some books, this ability is even mentioned (losing the tail quite easily).

You may want to clean him up, and put some neosporin on those wounds, though--might as well do him the favor of fixing him up. If you put him in a damp box for a few hours, you may be able to peel that skin off his tail, and save the tail tip.
