Worried about Egg Binding

indus Apr 15, 2004 06:51 PM

Hi I have not posted anything since last summer, My name is Debi I am 26 and live in Olympia, WA with 5 leos, 2 fatties, a bearded dragon, and a pure white kitty with one blue eye and one gold eye.

Every month I worry about egg binding, then the eggs come and I exhale, Well now I am worried again, usually 2 eggs are laid but this time only one came out I know that can happen, but it looks like there is still an egg in there, it has been 2 or 3 days since the first one was laid and yesterday she looked VERY Fat, Does this mean she is egg bound, What are the symptoms, I think I fear it each month because I am not sure what the symptoms are. I scanned through the site and found some advice to give a warm soak and I plan to try that when I get home from work today. Should I be worried?

In my opinion I wouldn't worry yet, maybe it just needs a little bit more cooking time inside of mom.

Thanks for telling me not to worry. Is it common for them to lay one and lay the other one a few days later. She is active and bright eyed and alert. How do I know (with any of my geckos) when to rush them to the vet due to egg binding, what are the symptoms. As you can tell I am still worried all I know is it can happen and it can kill them I don't want any of my kids to die. I gave her a warm bath last night hopefully it will come soon or my hair is gonna get grey.
Thanks Debi

Hi

Just a suggestion, but why don't you post this at the top of the page again and that way you would get more responses.

She laid one egg last night, when I woke up this morning she was covering it. Just thought I'd post that she laid, thanks for telling me not to worry I'll try not to next time.
