The bedding for the cage or for the nesting box? I wouldn't use mosses for the whole cage...messy messy messy. But for a nest box it's great, as long as you keep an eye on the humidity. I use vermiculite for both nesting and incubating eggs. Works like a charm

NEVER put vermiculite OR perlite into the cage with a snake.......

use it for eggs /incubation only.........

use moss.....peat moss.....or anyting damp for laying.....

yes..I have used a damp little towel...paper towels...carefresh dampened.......even dirt would work.....

a snake female digging to lay eggs into....will jam perlite and vermiculite into her eyes and nose and mouth...

vermiculite and perlite are both rocks...cooked till they pop....(just like asbestos).........and not cool to breath.....even for us humans........(*as per alot of info...Rich Zu chowski told me about this back in 1990)........yep.....

.......I use moss..I get it at garden center type places....big bags for $20....lasts me 2 years usually....for 150 snake hiding boxes.......

yes I give moss boxes to males and females all year......

yes I use gallon plastic jugs usually...(except for BIG corns)......they get too dirty...throw them out......and they DO get dirty.........always.......

so...have fun....good luck...........

JY.........up to 200 .eggs.....80 duds so far......
another normal year.....LOL.......gotta hate it..........LOL
