satanics

reptilefreak16 Apr 15, 2004 09:45 PM

I am going to the Hamburg reptile show next weekend and plan on getting a pair (hopefully) of satanics. Does anyone have any suggestions for me, best enclosure types, best temps, or anything else to make everything great for these guys. I have read up on caresheets and stuff like that, but i like to ask people with first hand knowledge off of this forum. Thanks

caresheets often give some useful information. its good to look up a lot of em so ou can find out as much as possible, but i doubt much is readily available about satanics. their arboreal, so they like twigs and branches. theyre nocturnal, so theyre not much of a spectacle during the day. they do best at room temperature, temps in the 80s can be detrimental to the health. they need to be kept in high humidity, and having a natural setup makes that a little easier. they're wonderful, although difficult to take care of, and i havent had much luck with them at the vet.

You should be able to find a really nice pair at that show.

buy captive bred ones
keep the temps cool
humidity 75% or better
they love laying on large leafed plants during the day while sleeping
mist them a couple times a day
be sure to dust the crickets with a good vitamin powder

While you are at the show could you see how much the Uroplatus guentheri are selling for and how many are available and post it here. That would be great information. Thanks, Gary Crain
