PLEASE HELP!

trapdoor Apr 15, 2004 10:41 PM

I have never had an escape. Not until today that is. Come home to find one of the cages open sans one of my het albino males. I could use all the suggestions anyone has about how to locate a nine month old ball python. He just ate yesterday so I would think he's hiding out in a warm spot somewhere, but I don't know what to do.

Any ideas will be greatly appreciated and I swear I'll send someone $50 if they give me a tip that finds my snake.

Thank you.

I would look in warm and dark spots. Underneath furniture, and near a heat source or both. Hope this helps and good luck finding him.

mine has gotten out before too. first time, i just wigged out and looked frantically all over the room. it took about 2 hours for someone to look under a phone book under the table his tank was on. second time, i didnt realize he was out at first, but one of my crested geckos had escaped and all the sudden i saw a snake tail behind the bookshelf. in my experience, escaped reptiles have not strayed far from their homes. just check all low-lying areas in the general vicinity.

try spreading newspaper down on the ground of the floor of the room where it escaped. On the newspaper put a hide box and a heat pad under it and wait at night...odds are you will hear him slithering over the newspaper to the warm spot and when you hear the newspaper crackle you've got him...good luck...my gf's bro had his bp escape and it never showed up until 5 wks later in the bathroom.

I personally have never had an escape, but from what I have read you should try to put a freshly killed brained rat or large mouse on a heating pad in the middle of the floor at night. if it is big enough you may also want to put a hide box on it too, but not covering the mouse/rat.. good luck. the only other option is to look everywhere you can... but then think of the last places you would suspect it to be and check there.good luck in finding your lil buddy!

Turn the lights out. When you hear the rustling of the bags you can turn the lights on and see where he is. Another trick I've read is to put some flour down and you can follow a trail if the snake happens to go through the flour.

Good luck!!
