We are a unique group of individuals. Unique amongst society, and even more unique as individuals. That Sort of makes herpers in general to be the odd balls of society. In fact we are so odd that we are often times polorized against our own. Perhaps that is why we can't seem to come together as a more formal and organized group, both as herpers in general, and as Drymarchon nuts as well.

Yup, I'm on my soap box again, but I just can't help it. So if I get out of line I'm sure you guys will square me away.

I just wish we had a strong organization of some kind to help us govern ourselves, and get a handle on issues like these. Without big brothers nose in it. Or at least keep his involvment to a minimum. We have a lot of intelegence, passion, and perhaps most importantly, experience here. If we could learn to focus these assets, and organize ourselves, in some sort of self governing association, like say,...a national herp society,...well maybe I just have an over active imagination.

Either way it probably will be up to folks like us to police ourselves and get a handle on the captive gene pool. Lets face it,...Uncle Sam dosen't seem to care very much about the captive gene pool. He's more worried about the wild population. Hell, I'll bet that most of the powers that be don't even know about this forum,...let alone care. That's my half a ruble.
Tony.

i whole-heartedly agree. as one of the lucky few to actually grow up in an area of south florida heavily populated byu large adult indigos, i have my own special appreciation for these magnificent snakes. i have yet to own a dry, yet i can feel the passion and dedication in the words of this forum and its regulars. i am anxious to own a dry, and i want to do it right and hopefully be able to help a species. my target is the texas indigo, and i would also like to work with both blacktail and redtail cribos. thats alot of poop to clean though. lol! so ill have to stick to one subspecies(most likely erebennus).

i think it would be a cool thing to see all you guys and your snakes in one place, and talk and exchange ideas and tips in person. wishful thinking i suppose. but i guess thats what the forum is for.

anyway, im not sure if i had a point or not; im tired. but i would like to thank everyone here for not only being extremely nice and helpful to boths noobs and those seeking general dry info. you guys are dedicated herpers, and you all deserve a pat on the back for what you do. =)

when you said, "Personaly, if I could buy, breed, and sell hybrid indigos wherever I wanted without government control, I'd be all for it."

You are suddenly reformed??

Whats the deal with you?

This is just a very old, rotten, bloated, stinky, maggott infested, dead dog. And every time we dig it up, it stinks a little worse. But if you insist,...

Very observant of you there madmatt. Guess I need to think about what I'm typing a little more before I type it. At the time, it sounded like a great idea to a newbee like me, but after much debate and the guidence of those who know a bit more than I,... I suppose I HAVE changed my mind a bit. But I still have mixed feelings about this whole subject. One thing is certain, I don't like big brother sticking hise nose in my buisness. You do realize that if you wanted to move to Ga.,Fl.,Al., and some others, you would have to sell your eastern indigos ,...? Right? To me, that sounds a bit rediculous, but that is the way it is. The government can tell us to either sell our indigos, or go live somewhere else. Does that sound like a free country to you? This kind of crap gets my blood boiling! When my blood starts to boil, I some times get carried away, and say things before I realy think about it. That is exactly what happened on the 29th. That's no excuse, I know , but that is just how I am. Now here's why I am that way.

I have served my country not once, but twice as a United States Army Paratrooper. Air Born, Infantry, Air Assault, Pathfinder whooa!!! I have TWO honerable discharges on my wall. I am also disabled because of that service. I gave that service, and 110% of my self, and six years of blood, sweat, and tears. I am disabled because of it. I gave up 60% of my ability to function as a normal human being. And I would go right now and do it again if they asked me. I did, and I would, because there is nothing on the face of this earth, nothing in heaven or hell, nothing in the entire universe that is more important than freedom!!! Freedom is NOT free!!! It is VERY VERY VERY expensive!!! But it is worth every penny!!! So while you were sitting around on your smart *** and playing with your snakes and looking back at old threads to find something to try and make somebody like me look bad, guys like me were and ARE STILL over there getting shot too ****!!!

Now,... Can we finaly burry this stinky rotten old thing? PLease? It realy, realy REEKS!!! Sincerely,
Seargent Anthony P. Carlisle.

Tony,
Don't worry about it, man. We know who you are and we've watched you form your way of thinking. At least you listened to reason. You took the information you were given in here and saw the value of it and you were big enough to admit that there were some flaws in your original thinking and adjusted accordingly. For that you have my admiration and respect.

If someone else wants to try to dig up crap like that from the past and pick a fight, the best thing to do is just ignore it. It doesn't mean anything anyway. The rest of us in here are cool with you.

All the way, every day!

Tony,

Listen to OH.

He’s a good troop.

You remember General Crocker at Bragg?

I JM a C-130 in Panama, night jump, Gatune DZ, he was number one right door. Took them a couple of hours to get him, his cute and gear out of that crap. I was famous. Bet your smiling now.

17 of 21 years-14 days-6 hours all spent in 3rd brigade 2/505, Delta Co.

We are bigger that this, don’t listen to the crap. H-

Dann….
