NEW TOKAY SETUP!!! NEED A HAND....

OhioGeckos Apr 15, 2004 11:28 PM

Ok, I'll explain what I'm trying to achieve and how. Dimensions are 24"x18"x36". Using a 24" ZooMed 5.0, 100 watt ZooMed basking bulb for day, and 75 watt ZooMed Infrared lamp for night. Looking to achieve 90 in basking spot and 76 on the terrarium floor.

What I'm using to achieve humidity:
3" of terra-lite w/ water 1/2" below top of that line (distilled water), fiberglass screen cut to size for substrate divider, CoCo bedding (from blackjungle)4" high w/ that being at the lowest spot (molded bedding into hills and valleys. I also have coconut fiber as the background covering everyside except the front of the terrarium. I wasn't quit sure how to mount this so I let it settle on top of the substrate divider in hopes of keeping it moist since I am mounting epiphytes on the backgrounds. Someone let me kno if they've used this as a background and if that's how u keep it moist cause I have no clue. I have an assortment of plants all picked out from black jungle (yes i am copy and pasting the names). Let me know if these will survive the conditions of a tokay cage (i'm trying to keep humidity between 75-85%).

Fern - Adiantum hispidulum, Fern - Humata tyermanii "White Rabbits Foot", Polypodium species, Selaginella uncinata, Anthurium 'Crystal Hope', Assorted Begonia, Creeping Fig - Ficus pumila, Creeping Fig- Variegated, Cryptanthus.

Any incite would be delightful. This will currently house my male until my female is out of her quarantine period. Also, is my tokay just a fussy eater? He won't eat anything but crickets so far. Not even superworms which are pretty active. I'm gonna try lobster roaches in a moment once my colony gets larger.

That sounds great, and all of those plants won't harm your tokay.

I'll post apic of my tokay set-up soon!
