I've been bitten by the "Burm Bug"

RPlank Apr 16, 2004 02:58 AM

After months of contemplation, explanation, research, and begging the wife, I am finally ready to get a burm. I took the wife to a local Reptile shop so she could see/hold a baby before I get one. The kid warns me, as he's getting the baby albino out, that she's kinda nippy. That's to be expected, I know, no biggie. As he hands her to me, she is striking at him, trying to get back into her cage. When she finally realizes he isn't holding her, she turns around and nails me.....and holds on. A few minutes later, after she got up close and personal with the goldfish, she finally let go.
My wife was taken with her, and thought it was cute that she was going after me!
Anyways, here's a pic of my first burm bite:

She was even nice enough to leave a tooth embedded in my wrist as a reminder of who's boss! I am going back tomorrow and see if they can get me a male. The potential size of a female is more than I want to deal with........so far!

Just be forwarned that getting a burm doesn'e guarentee a small burm. Though rare 15 and 16 foot males have been noted so think hard before getting a burm of any sex. The potential for an extremely large snake is always there. Good luck, Todd
