do repti sand fit young Leopard gecko?

cnddkawnd Apr 16, 2004 07:54 AM

I was heard that if baby L.gecko(my gecko size is about 4~5inch) eat reptisand to take in calcium, his intestine is blocked by reptisand.

then, he can't eat any food and will be died...

generally, is it truth? so then, when do I supply them reptisand?

second, i want to get my gecko eat ZooMed's Leopard gecko Food.

what can I do for them?

I hate cricket's sound very well !!

reptisand will plug up and "impact" small leos. Most of the time I think they get mouthfulls while chasing food. Use a bowl of calcium powder and dust the live food for calcium suplementation. I have never seen a leo that would eat food that was not live and moving. Crickets, mealworms, superworms, waxworms etc. I would not put a leo that is not adult size or at least 45 to 50 grams on sand.

when I give them mealworms, he has loose bowels.

is it not anxiety?

Maybe someone can answer you better. And DON"T feed your leopard the Canned leo food stuff. Honestly it stinks more and it's no where near as healthy for them. If you buy smaller/younger crix they may not make as many sounds

I don't know why mealies would do that. It may just take a bit to get their digestive track settled in from eating crix. Try some smaller super worms (zoophoba)they make a handy meal. I have seen wax worms give them the squirts but never mealies

Never happened to mine. They eat only mealworms, and crickets every now and then. Maybe once every couple weeks.
