My crestie enclosure

Finnigan Apr 16, 2004 08:10 AM

Hi everyone.

This is my crested gecko enclosure. It house 2 cresties (see if you can spot them). It is a 20gal long, sitting on its short side so that the enclosure is taller then it is wide or deep. A screen lid is fastened to the front so that it opens like a door. It is the full size of the large face of the tank.

Pros of this setup:

1) Everything is plastic and easily removeable for cleaning
2) Paper towel substrate is easy to clean and one of the cresties hides in the folds of the paper
3) Many hiding spots in the fake foliage (plants located front left, back left (tough to see in this pic), and middle on the RHS. There's also that tube at the back which is attached to the wall but pops right off.

Cons:

1) Due to the door-style opening, when I open the tank its easy for a li'l lizard to sneak out or attempt to do so
2) Unless lizards are out in the open, they are difficult to see and almost impossible to grab.

Any and all feedback, positive or negative, is appreciated.

Joel

PS: Does anyone keep calcium powder in a crestie tank for them to lick up?

You realize that you have cannibus growing in your enclosure right? IT could be detrimental to the young cresteds if they try to injest some. Just Joking.
