Amazingly, yor Secretive Snake
A ground snake (Sonora semiannulata), looks more like the harder to find Tantilla hobartsmithi.
Definately a T. hobartsmithi, and a great find. I really enjoyed that field account...thanks...chad
Thanks for the correction guys,
My "Reptiles of the Lake Mead Area" book makes no mention of blackhead snakes, but I thought it was a tantilla too.
I checked in Bartlett's "Snakes of North America" and it looks like maybe I was right on the edge of their range. Anyhow, I took your suggestion and "re-identified" it.
