emergency! i have eggs

katieh Apr 16, 2004 10:15 AM

the guy at the pet store said it would take a lot longer for her to lay them than it did. So now she's laid eggs in the middle of her cage and I don't have an incubator yet. She's JUST laying the second one now

Is there something I can do with them until the store opens and I can buy one and heat it up?

These are my first eggs and her first eggs and I don't want them to die

THanks

Katie

Get a plastic container and moisten some paper towels. Put the eggs on the moist paper towel and then lay a couple more moist paper towels over them. If you don't have a warm place to put them until you get to the store for an incubator put them in the gecko enclosure on the warm side.

That's what I would do. Hope it helps.

k that's what i'll do

i went to take them out and they're REALLY soft

I don't want to squish the eggs.. are they supposed to be like that?

Make sure the paper towels are moist and not wet. Keep the container in like a top cabinet in your kitchen or someplace higher in a room. Temps tend to be warmer higher up since hot air rises.

If the eggs are real squishy, that's a sign of infertile eggs. But incubate them anyway...you never know. Good luck.

The eggs got stuck to the paper towel i had them temporarily on. They REALLY didn't want to come off. Now I have vermiculite to put them in so i just buried them halfway in with the paper towel still stuck to the bottom. Do the risks of leaving them outweigh the risks of pulling them off?

That happened to me too. This is my females first clutch of eggs ever to. I hope they are fertile. Did your looked dinted at all? Hope the eggs are doing well. Keep me posted on how your eggs do.

she stepped on one of them and it looked dented :-/

I ran out and bought vermiculite to put them in and they both look okay, they're just soft and squishy
