Is Reptisun 5.0 too much light? ESU RP450?

kongsnake Apr 16, 2004 01:01 PM

I am setting up a 20L for a 3" RES. I am planning to have the tank at least 3/4 full with a turtle dock. The hood for the tank holds 1 NO flourescent. Is a 24" Reptisun 5.0 or a ESU RP450 too much light for the RES? What would you suggest? THe Reptisun is about 60% more cash. Thx.

The ReptiSun is the recommended bulb, you can't really have too much light. You will need a separate basking light tho, flourescent tubes don't make any heat. Is this set up for hatchlings? A 20 gallon tank won't hold three RES for very long.

Thx for the reply. This tank is being setup for a single 3 inch RES. There is a basking light also.

The Reptisun 5.0 is probably the best UVB light but remember, no UVB light is an equal replacement for direct unfiltered sunlight.
care info.

Thx for the reply. The setup is for a 6-year old shild and it will be in the basement. However, I could suggest that he take it out for a little "sun-bathing". I think he would like that suggestion, and could spend some more time with the turtle.
