My husband and I keep a variety of geckos and other reptiles, including a Sulcata Tortoise, and several Mali Uromastyx. We currently keep our Malis on a birdseed substrate, which they absolutely love. It is so easy to clean up after them, and we dont have to worry about any ill effects from accidental ingestion of the mixture.... I am wondering if birdseed is an okay substrate to use with geckos? It seems like it would have to be easier to digest then bark, walnut shell, and other substrates if accidentally ingested. Does anyone know if this is okay for geckos, and also what nutritional benefits would it have?

Thanks!
