Pellet diet

beardyluvr Apr 16, 2004 03:25 PM

Ok, how good is a pellet diet for beardies? What else do you have to feed them if they are on one?

Depends on who makes the pellet. Repcal juvie is a complete food, you don't HAVE to feed anything else. I doubt that you'll find anyone doing this though. Most will also feed salad at the very least and even some worms and bugs still also.

Lisa at Beginners Basics has been raising BDs on pellets and dragon dust for some time now. She also feeds silkies and other worms but NO CRIX. She has beautiful healthy animals that are a testiment to her love and caring for them. There are others as well as myself that suppliment salads and live prey with pellets and/or dust. Just be carefull not to overdue it. Dont use prepared foods like pellets and then a suppliment as well.

Remember If the BD doesnt eat it it cant do him any good. Make sure they are eating what you feed them. If you need some tricks to get them onto pellets, read down (trix are for kids)or let me know.

Good luck

Thanks for the kind words. I was wondering if you can capture video with your webcam... I think your camera is much more fun than a fish tank screen saver. My babies from last season would run across a 3 foot long tank to the pellets at feeding time. at one point (very overcrowded) I had 12 in the one enclosure and it was a stampede to the food bowl. They would even jump at the spoon to get the GREEN pellets (none of that clutch ate brown). If yours are anything like that it would make a cool video from ground level view.

Yeah, I can capture video. I have it password protected so others can't use my videos LOL

I might do that.... will think on it

Off to bed... have a great night!
