Has anyone ever heard of this place? chad
I have never heard of it, I lived in Brewster Co. for most of the 80's. Do you know what part of the co. it's in?
and put on your thinking cap...still making saddles and leather goods ? If one was to go to TERRA SERVER USA and start at 64 meters resolutions on the topo map and go south of Marathon about 3 clicks south, you come upon Dove Mts. just above Persimon Gap and around Tinaja in which you know what Tinaja means. Then when you are there go to the aerial photo map. After that navigate around. There are some very strange LARGE HOLES in the ground around there. The trouble is that the Roads of Texas map that Chad is using ( I know of this because one of our buds left it in his vehicle several yaers ago ) is untrue of the vicinity. It shows actully 2 Dove Mts and the server states one mountain range. You will need to zoom in and out in the aerial view and topo photo. Hey, while your at it look at Terlingua and Lajitas ( your home place of the 80ties ) and follow river road out to the teepees. LOL !
Chambo
No, I am not using any map, just asking if anyone has heard of the rance, and if it is a suitable place to stay. Nothing that concerns you. chad
Not answering a Chad W post but Rick Green. So don't flatter yourself bud. LOL !
Flatter myself, from you? Laughable. Get a job. chad
Hey Chambo! Sorry I was so long getting back to you, man, you guys need to lighten up!!!! I know I should remember the Dove mt. and I do vaguely, since you said that, it must butt up to the Black Gap WLMA. on the north side. All good areas for collecting. I would love to go there myself.
Yes I am back in the saddle bus. again, things are cool, wish that area was my home again, maybe some day.
They're listing land there (all or part) for $80 an acre.
Do you mind if I ask where that land is listed? I would like to look into it. It has been my experience that land priced that cheap is way off the road and has no access to electricity. Also a shallow well in that area is about 4000ft at over a dollar per ft., not to mention the cost of a pump that can get it to the surface. Water and electricity can cost more than a large tract of land. But sometimes you get lucky, and wouldn't hurt to check.
