Crickets..

BabyStoleMyDingo Apr 16, 2004 04:22 PM

HOLY WOW!

I can't believe the crickets my Kermit can pack away! He is about 10 inches long (nose-tail) and he went thru 1000 crix in about 2 weeks. I'd say like 60plus a day (sometimes i lose count LOL). Is this normal? Should I feed him less or more? Im used to my gex eating like 3-5 crickets every 2-3 days LOL

When I'm finished feeding him, he acts like he still wants more. (yes he has his daily greens, a mix of kale, collards, mustard greens and dandylion) He takes like 4-6 bites of his salad. All he wants is his crickets!! Should i feed him until he is full? Should I cut back and try to get him to eat more greens? Im afraid of under or over feeding him. *CAN* you over feed a BD?

I can't get over how much of a piggie he is! again WOW! my face is like this --> :-O when he chomps up those crix lol

2 more Q's.. First are there any cons to using a little bit of sand in the cricket tank? the crix get stuck under the paper towel- smart they are not! lol

And does anyone know where I can get 1000 crix cheaper then what i pay at the superwormfarm.com? It is the best deal i have seen but.. Ya never know there could be better ones out there lol

tootles..

On your last question, I use to buy at the super worm farm until i found groom's. They have 1000 crickets for $15.00 shipped and have the live arrival guarantee. They seem to last longer from grooms then superworm(they don't die as quick.).

Hope this helps.

1000 crickets every 2 weeks sounds right. That's exactly what my juvi goes through. They do eat like maniacs.

If given the choice between crickets or salad, he will fill up on crickets. If you want him to eat more greens, what I did was give greens in the morning, and not give any crickets until noon-ish. That way unless he wanted to be hungry til noon, he'd eat the salad.

But I don't think you're feeding him too much or too little, sounds just about right.
