Aren't you the one who was in reptiles magazine a while back on that article? Didn't they help you with some breeding tips? Just curious, because I have never seen anyone captive breed K. maculata.

Thanks Alex for the compliments on my site. I spent some good time on it just to get some info out on some species I keep and some others. Good luck finding a new male, saw there was a trio in the kingsnake classifieds.

yeah i checked the classifed and talked to guy selling them, he said it would be $60 for a male shipped to my door. i had to refuse offer because i am away about 75% of the time between june and july so i wouldn't have time to take care of male and see if breeding would occur.
i asked if he could hold one for me but he said it would be too long. which sux
but luckly i can find some at show now that i know how to identify them.
thanx

coincidentally i was also going to post wondering about breeding these. i have 7, and have kept these for about 5 years now. it was to my understanding that these have not been bred before in captivity but i am very fond of the ones i have and think they are great terrarium animals. my oldest male calls frequently, the smaller ones who's interest is on the rise are easy to spot due to their newly stretched vocal sacs having redness to them. my understanding is that males call when a female crosses their path or if they hear loud sounds (like when the tv is really loud). i was told by a british enthusiest that the area they breed in is very flat and floods in the rainy season, but also the water has a higher than normal salt content (no mention of WHICH salt), he speculated that water pH or salinity may play a role in triggering breeding. i live in a very dry climate with little to no weather/daily barometric variance-so i cannot test if that plays a role in their interest. if you ever find out anything i'd apreciate the info, i'm also looking for info on kassina weali-i have never seen one in person, and the one in my book looks metalic gold and black.
