What are you using as substrate? Just looking for the best for my new, first uro.

it appears to be sand. it doesn't get good press around here lately, but it works fine for uros. Maybe not the best, but certainly not the worst. The only thing to watch out for when you house a reptile on sand is that they aren't ingesting it. A lick here and there is ok, especially when they are just switched over to it, but too much can lead to an impaction. If you have a small uro (I think you do, right?), it might be best to keep it on paper towels or something until it's a little bigger or has a clean bill of health (I think I remember your uro being one that was found at a local petco or something, so make sure you get a fecal done).

He is on washed play sand. Have never seen him eat any and I monitor him when he eats in case any food gets dragged into the sand.
