Mineral oil for mites

I was told that mineral oil is a good way to kill mites.I have been using sevin dust in the past,but I dont like the idea of covering her with poison.Will mineral oil work?Is it harmful to the snake?Please help!

Personally, I would recommend using Pro Product's Provent A Mite spray; although a chemical, our wildlife center has NEVER had a single negative reaction to this product and it is 100% effecive if you follow the instructions. Mineral oil will only kill the mites on the snake, however, the snake mite leaves the host to lay its eggs so eventually, the problem will re-occur. Rob
