Different head shape in atb?

Jezabel Apr 16, 2004 10:27 PM

Here's a close up of my 2 red ammie. They have really different head shape, is it common in atb? It's not as obvious as when you see them for real but my female has a triangle shape head and the male is more square shape (sorry, my english is bad)
and it's almost like the eye are more on the top of the head, or maybe just bigger. Is it just the fact that one is a male and the other a female? If so, is it a fairly acurate way to sexed adult?

No, it has nothing to do with the sexes. Hortulanus is an extremely wide ranging species and there's no doubt some naturally occuring head shape variation among them. Head shape may also vary from individual to individual for the same reasons that some of us are pretty and some of us are ugly.

P.S. Great looking animals BTW!
