cnddkawnd Apr 17, 2004 04:43 AM

hi, im korean

excuse me. I can't english very well

i breed one snake

the snake named 'neung sa' in korean

Now, his size is about 1meter(may be 40inch?)

I suppose it belongs to kingsanke(probably)

my problem is my snake don't eat some food since before 2 months i brought him.

He is just avoid foods(hamster) and afraid of foods

one day, i gave him a hamster but, he just threatened and drive head into the wall

so his nose is worn down. now his nose is gray(it was red by natural)

i have attracted attention for a long time

but he still didn't eat some foods

what can i do for him?

Could be alot of things...

A couple of things that come to mind is it a wild caught snake? If so it's not used to captive life and just wants freedom.

How are the temperatures in his enclosure? If it's to hot he may be tring to escape the heat.

Hamsters are usually not a regular food item. Try mice. Pre-killed or frozen are safer for captive snakes if you can get him to eat one.

If its a male could be he wants a mate. I hear it's that time of year for snakes. :0)

Size of enclosure could be to small.

Parasites could be bugging him.

Might want to post a message on how you have him/her housed with temp, etc.

These are just my thoughts as I'm no expert but have 4 snakes of my own. 2 corns, a honduran milk and a jungle carpet python.

thx for question.!!

he is probably gril -_-;;

when I watched her gentalia, there is a hole. not a projecting part

girl is right?

and... the old days, I supplied a heat(most than 30tem) at corner

but, she didn't go there and she didn't move anymore, and only keep in hiding place all days as usual

then, I thought she didn't like a heat... and the heat was supplied to geckoes

what's wrong?

bottom is the snake ^^

Hi, I could not access you picture, so I am speculating when it comes to species. There are no Kingsnakes in Korea so it may well be that you have a Ratsnake-Probably Elaphe dione.

Food for this is dependent on the size of the snake, but at the largest it would only take a small adult mouse. More likely it would feed on newly furred baby mice. Hamster would be totally wrong.

Another snake that is very similar to dione is Elaphe rufodorsata-which is a fish eater. It has a blunter snout than dione. This is also found in Korea.

What is the size of your snake? If you cannot post another picture can you give a brief discription of color, pattern and shape (is lit long and skinny or is it fat?) Are the scales rough or smooth to the touch.

As to it's gender, Does the tail widen just after the anus or does it quickly get thinner? The presence of a "hole" really means nothing. many species are dificult to sex without probing.

Hampsters are one of the worst things to offer a snake. Because of their loose skins and bad tempers, they can frequently kill or maim the attacking snake.

Hello. Your photo doesn't show up. A 40 inch snake should be eating 2-3 adult mice. Pinkies are much to small for it.

Some how my message posted twice.

If that is what I think it is then 2-3 small sized adults would be the ticket-when it gets established. A trick to start a problem feeder: Try a fuzzy mouse first. Use a hide box and place the fuzzy inside it so that the snake can find it there (less threatening). If it accepts it then go for the larger size next feeding.

40 inches is very large for Elaphe dione (but still within its range)and too large for E. rufodosata.

We really need to see the snake or get a good discription of what it looks like before We can be sure about the ID and food.

Right click on the image, click properties and paste the url into your browser. After looking at it I'm still not sure what it is. It doesn't look like a Korean rat snake though- more like a Dinodon rufozonatus rufozonatus (I think Wolf snake or Odd toothed snake is a common name for them). Maybe try fish or frogs to feed it?

Tried your idea but could not access. If it is a Dinodon then fish is the correct food for it. Also a bottom media of spagnum moss is preferable for keeping this snake healthy. Mist daily.

Thank you!

That is indeed Dinodon rufozonatum. Congrats for getting it to eat a pink. That is not unheard of with these but the normal food would be fish or frogs. Keep in moist terraria spagnum moss is great).
