I finally acclimated this rescue-case BP

ginevive Apr 17, 2004 07:11 AM

He finally took a thawed rat for me, overnight, a few nights ago. I had gotten him for free from a nature preserve nearby, where he had been dumped by some moron who bought him as a WC adult, a few months ago. I set him up at home in a big rubbermaid for a month without much disturbing him, then put in a f/t rat last week, and it vanished.
He is very hissy when approached. He hisses a little, and bit my boyfriend (his fault, not the snake's) but I'd be the same if I were plucked from the wild as an adult Bp, too.
I had to clear up some ticks, but basically I got a really nice male bp for free. He had horrible pieces of shed stuck on when I got him, and he was actually going into a shed then, so I upped his humidity majorly and he had a perfect shed!
I hope to breed him next year; his pattern is quite busy.

It is always nice to see an "unwanted" pet find a good home.
Good luck,
Joe
