Love nips or cannibalism BROOKS

a pair of 02 brooks together the male was holding the fem by the neck but no tail lifting so i interuped him to release. a moment later he had her in the tail cloaca region bite hold, so i seperated them. she was eager to get out ??????food or fun??Chris

That is part of breeding. If it was a feeding/killing response you would have seen coils, just like with rodents.

Go ahead and breed them and observe.

Kings will do this. If they are about the same size, you probably shouldn't worry about one eating the other. Alot of times, males will bite their mate and hold them down during copulation. I guess it's a dominance thing. Put them together and watch them to see what happens. If she's ready to breed, the male will definitely notice her and may act aggressively but will do his deed.
