Well I've done it now!

First off let me say this took some serious consideration. I really wasn't planning to breed this year. My normal "Norma" put on alot of weight this spring. She's just under the weight I was hoping for to breed her. She was feeding like crazy, and is up to about 240 grams. She went off feed three weeks ago and got very active. It was obvious she was looking for a man. So thursday night I introduced her to my snow "Lightning". It was love at first sight. They went at it almost immidiately. They were hooked up in less than three minutes. They stayed that way for about 25 minutes and left a couple of globs of yellow-green something on the floor of the tub (semen?). Any ways I think I'm prepared for any problems that may arrise. I'm not too worried . My question is, Should I reintroduce them in a few days, or just assume they did the deed the first time. By the way, she ate a big mouse last night. She jumped on it as soon as it hit the floor. Sorry for rambling. Thanks, Jim

I would give them 3 to 5 days and introduce them again.
Maybe two more times.
It is just a sugestion I see a lot of people post.
I just introduced mine once and they did fine.

Thanks Jimmy. I think I'm gonna give her a couple of days to digest her meal, then give it another go. I dont have any experience at this, but from what I witnessed i bet I'm gonna be a grand pa this summer.

I kind of hate giving advise on breeding seeing as how I have only had one clutch and only 10 of those 14 hatched.
I hope to have better results with this second clutch.
20 eggs = 20 hatchlings.. That is my goal!

As you know I wasn't intending to breed her this year. It was just so obvious she was wanting to breed. She's got my amel "Mel" all stirred up now. He's in the tank below her. Love is definatly in the air at my house.
