Feeding ?

dmlove Jun 14, 2003 11:59 AM

I feed my box turtles a salad daily consisting of endive, collard, romaine, squash, bell peppers, peas, oranges, kale, and other greens. I also try to feed them earthworms and other insects like mealworms etc. Lately my male has been just burying himself not eating or drinking and the female is kinda not basking anymore and just sitting in one spot. Is there any way to try to get them to eat a lil more? thanks!

Once a day? Do they eat every single day? Usually i only feed mine 3-4 times a week, depending. Maybe they are just too full, or the female could have eggs if she's not eating a lot. Not exactly sure tho..

I used to feed mine every day when I got them but then they stopped eating. So, I started to feed them every 2 days and they ate alot better. Now I have them outside with pumpkins, strawberries, bell peppers, tomatoes, and all other kinds of edible plants. So I went down to 2 times a week and they ate very little at a time and then I went down to 1 time a week and all together they eat a whole plate of prepared foods every week. But i don't recomend the once a week thing unless they are outside when the plants are bearing food. So good luck on getting them to eat!
