best feeders?

lizzylizard Apr 17, 2004 10:02 AM

I am looking into getting feeders shipped. I am going to be ordering crickets but I would also like to order a type of worm as well for variety. I have used mealworms, but there are so many other types that are supposed to be more nutritious and digestable. Which would you all consider to be the best?

Mealworms,
Butterworms,
Silkworms,
Superworms, or
Waxworms

Any replies are appreciated,
Lisa

butterworms when you can get them and silkworms when you can't get butterworms. you need to feed the butterworms out fast unless you happen to have a tevo bush in your yar .The butterworms and silkworms contain more calcium than crickets and are more easily digestable.

I read that about the tevo bush, lol. With them coming all the way from Chile isn't there more of a possibility of them having parasites? On the web site that I want to get them from it says if you keep them in the fridge they can last up to 4 MONTHS, thats insane with no food. But yes it does say that they do not last long if kept at room temp. Thanks for your reply,

i would stick with mealworms as well as superworms. mealies and supers will gutload on a large variety of things whereas silkies and waxies only eat a particular type of food. if your order some waxies, be careful not to feed the leos too many of them at once. leos have been known to get "addicted" to waxies and will refuse other food. its best to feed waxies as a treat rather than use them as a big part of the leos' diet. and i have never tried butters so i can't really speak for them.

Thanks thats good to know, I probably would have endend up getting them hooked on some extremly expencive worm. The silkworms are butterworms I am looking to get as treats are almost 6 times as much as the mealworms.
