vitamins and calcium when feeding pellets

KevinR Apr 17, 2004 02:49 PM

Thanks to all the hints, I now have a bearded dragon eating Repcal juvanile pellets. Soaking in apple juice and hand feeding got him hooked. I intend to feed him on greens and pellets with a few insects as treats. How often should I be using calcium and vitamin powder when using pellets?

Just out of curiousity, what do all the decimals mean when people are listing their other pets?

The #s and decimals mean male.female.unknown so if you had 3.2.4 you would have 3males 2females and 4unknown. Congrats on getting your kid to eat pellets. As far as the dusting it really depends on what dust you use. I use minerall w/d3 every other day on salads for babies that are eating pellet and vitall once a week for the same. There are a lot of variables here, like age of animal and how much UV they are getting. Older animals need the supplements less often and animals that get a lot of UV need the calcium w/D3 less often. Hope that makes some kind of sense.

It is my understanding, if you are feeding pellets daily than you should not use additional suppliments. It is a whole food with calcium and everything needed just like T-rex VGF/VMF.
