Have you tried soaking her? Put her in a tub of warm water (bath tub works great) and let her soak and it may trigger her to poop Has she been getting any water? Is she eating at all? It takes a few days for igs to adjust to your environment and their new family and family activities Give her a few days. If she doesnt poop within a few more days call the vet. Maybe PHFaust or jiffypop will have more info for you but it sounds to me like relocation stress.

Your ig may not eat for quite a bit longer than the first day or two. I'd definately try a soak in the tub, if s/he needs to go, it should trigger the right reaction. A soak is good for them regardless. What you're offering for food sounds great though! Tempest would fly over for that Give it time, and try leaving the food in while you're not there, as well as over night. S/he may decide to eat when no one's been around for a while. Tempest took a very long time to start eating, but he was in pretty rough shape. I wouldn't worry for a few more days yet myself, especially if your ig is in good health to start with.

Nice looking iggy. It took almost 2 weeks for my little iggy to eat when I first got her. She was only 4-6 months old though. I had to finally force feed her. Then she just started eating after that. I'd give it a little more time with the eating, and soaking in warm water should help with the pooping. He/she might even drink when soaking in the water. Good luck

today she ate something not much but something at least,
it's a start (how did you make it through weeks!!)(i kept expecting to find a dead lizard and that was just two days!)
she has a baby tub in the bottom of her cage and i have seen her in there twice but still no poop, i keep changing it still too!
maybe now that she actually ate something she will!
i would put her in the bath but i guess i freaked her out the first night(trying to make her nice)
and has been weary of me since only today did she let me touch her(with out getting pissy)
but thanks
u guys calmed me nerves

When you put her in the tub with warm water. Try rubbing or massaging her belly. That's if she will let you. Oh yeah, my iggys don't like when I put them in the tub. So be ready for some fighting and scratching and climbing up your arm. Keep trying to get her in there and rub her back when you do to calm her down(if she has a fit). In the warm water and rubbing her belly she should poop. Have fun.

Here is a pic. of my three iggys in the tub. That is after cleaning the poop out 3 times.(at least)

bonniejoe Apr 20, 2004 08:45 PM

that is soo cute
rubbing her back, touching, hell even talking to her doesn't calm her she hates me and a don't think the bath fights help.
not yet any way, i just got her,
and something else i noticed,
she is really clumsy,
is this normal or just cause she not used to her surrounding yet?

Sam-n-Ella Apr 23, 2004 12:12 AM

What do you mean by clumsy? Does she have trouble walking or climbing? Iguanas aren't the most graceful creatures. My big cuban iguana knocks everything over when he just roams around and jumps on stuff. My green iguanas are pretty small compaired to your big girl. They don't have trouble getting around or climbing. If she is having trouble getting around or using her arms or legs maybe she has had health issues in the past or there could be something wrong. It could be that she is just clumsy , but I'd watch her when she is acting that way and see if you notice something causing her to act like that. Maybe having problems moving legs when she needs to. I'm not an expert and my iggys aren't the same size so I don't know if they get clumsier when they get older or not.
She will get used to you with time. Just keep working with her and don't let her be the boss. Has she eaten any more or gone poop yet?

i am still very worried about my iguana(changed ehr name to hooligan.
we did see a vet she said you guys have pointed me in the right direction and to keep doing what i am doing
we have to go back for a reptile panel too(told me there was no way of telling anything without one)
but that she looked good
i am supposed to feed her food with a high moisture content too
it might help her poop
she has eaten but only a very little(one day she just picked out the strawberries but still very very little little)
so no poop and very little food. we are too go back in a week,.
(clumsy thing was my fault everything was too slippery)
the not eating and pooping has got me tearing my hair out!
oh yeah and she wins all the fights
she is the dominate one she know's it and i know it

bonniejoe Apr 27, 2004 11:12 AM

it was a big one too
thanks
