Two Di's in pet store!

BillsIggys Apr 17, 2004 05:50 PM

A couple weeks ago my daughter told me she saw two young Di's at a local Petland store. That week end I investigated. They are from last year hatchlings. Nearly half grown. I felt sorry for the little guys. They had a dish of water. No veggies, and only crickets in the cage. They were asking $49.99 each for them. Today my daughter was there again. They still had them. She said one is getting skinny. I want to rescue these little guys but I have four DI's already. I paid alot less than this for my guys. I might offer $65 for the pair and see if they will accept that! Bill!

My advise is... FIrst of all see if you will be able to have the accomadations to take 2 more DI's. And make sure that you can take them without the care and attention to all of them won't be sacrificed. Secondly, realize you can't save the world. There is always going to be some sad looking sick animals in pet stores and that is the cruelty of the world. I know first hand from working at an animal sheltor. There is so much cruelty and neglegence that I see every day. We can't always take in new dogs or cats because we do not have room and we have to think of the welfare of the animals we have now. It's hard and discouraging to see all the things that you cannot help but must stand by and watch. But I am by no means telling you not to get them. If you have the time, resources and energy to spare to care for 2 more DI's properly, then I'm sure they would appreciate being cared for. Hope this helps
