Hello! I have been researching blue tongue skinks as I have been interested in getting a reptile soon.
I have 125 gallon tank and I plan to build my own lid. What are your thoughts on a skink trying to escape? I know they need a wire mesh lid for ventilation, but how much if any effort does a skink exert as an escape artist?
Any info for a new owner is appreciated! Thanks!

BTS aren't really good at climbing or escaping! Aslong as your tank is high enough, you won't need a lid. I keep one of my BTS in a tank without a lid and there is no way he would be able to climb out and escape.

Minimum of 60cm high tank will keep them from escaping...

Hi, and welcome to the awesome world of blue-tongue skinks. At least I hope you decide to get one as they are simply the best pet lizards available.
As to the lid, a 125 gallon tank is in all likelihood high enough that the skink will not be able to climb out. They are not jumpers at all, so as long as the sides are higher than the skink is long, it'll be escape-proof. You may still want a lid for heating purposes and, of course, to keep other pets (cats) out.>>Hello! I have been researching blue tongue skinks as I have been interested in getting a reptile soon.
