sealing plywood enclosure, what should I use?

gnostic May 13, 2003 12:46 AM

I am constructing an enclosure for my savannah monitor that will hold about 10" to 12" of dirt. I would like to know what products work best in sealing plywood and and withstand the dirt and a large savannah monitor.

I used Thompson's for mine. They only recommend 1 coat. I used 5. You can probably get away with only 3-4 coats. My monitor(like all other monitors) likes to scratch the wood. Giving it that amount of coats, will eliminate you having to re-do the enclosure.

I recommend a more resiliant, resin based product like Diamond finish. You only need 2 coats of that stuff. You can get it at Home Depot.
