How often do BTS's take a dump?

rich_123 Jun 14, 2003 01:14 PM

I've been feeding my bts everyday and he eats everything I offer, but he has not defecated in about 5 days but has urinated about every other day. I keep him on newspaper and provide him with a heat source around 95 to 105 degrees. Let me know how long I should wait before I start to worry or any other information you want to know.

I got him a week and 1 day ago. But he defecated this morning so don't worry about the previous post. The stool was a little runny though, can this be attributed to being put in a new environment or possible slight change in diet. I feed him dogfood with lots of veggies, but am unsure as to what was fed to him by the previous owner. The skink defecated the first day I got him and it was really solid, this is what led me to think that a change in diet may be causing some runny stools. Could this be the case?

Most likely not cause for concern, but I'd take him to a vet if nothing after a week or so (total). While skinks are very irregular as Brian noted, this is usually attributable to irregular feedings, such as 2-3 times per week. With daily feedings, I would expect (and have witnessed) a little consitency in schedule.

He should be fine. Their "dumping" freequency is a direct of their eating freequency and how much food that is eaten. He should be fine. If you become concerned, a nice soak in some slightly warm water is often just what the Doctor ordered to losen things up...
