follow-up on savannah and dirt.........

herpluver Apr 17, 2004 09:46 PM

well i went ahead added the dirt, i think it looks much better, but he seams a bit stressed, is this normal for a sav when you change there tank around? it could be that he has just never felt dirt on his feet before, he's a rescue and had it hard in the beginning. a good sign is he still loves to eat.

and a question pertaining to the dirt, is there a way to keep the water from getting so dirty? i mean if i have to change it 3 times a day then i will its no big deal but it there is something to make it easier then that would be great.

Thanks for the help,
Sam

I use to have that problem also but i found by pouring a little water on the top layer of dirt and pressing it down really well then letting it dry seemed to work well for me. The dirt in the water comes fron having a lot of loose dirt on top and if you just recently added dirt to your enclosure theres likely to be dust particles floating in the air and you know what they say "what goes up must come down" thus the dirty water. Hope this helps.
