Eliminating UVB light during warm weather?

dynamohum1 Apr 18, 2004 11:05 AM

I am thinking about turning off my UVB lights for the spring/summer and opting to put the dragons outside every day weather permiting. Would 1 hour exposure to natural sunlight every other day (every day and longer on nice sunny days) be more than enough UV? Any thoughts?

I am not familiar with any scientific studies, but I understand from some people doing this that they believe 2-3 hours is needed for the UV to get through the skin and be effective. The longer the better, even if it is not daily. Just make sure thay have shade so they dont cook. Even in the shade, they get more UV than a standard UV bulb. Here in Miami I went out last week on a miserable cloudy day and shooting away from the sun I got a 60-80 reading.
