During the hottest day of the summer, i do turn the heat off for my collared but for a gecko i'm not so sure. What about keeping just the heap pad ? Does your heat pad cover all your enclosure ? If not, leaving just the heat pad shouldnt be a problem, your gecko wil be able to thermoregulate.

I would say yes, turn the heat off. I have already had to turn the heat off for my cage, as it would have reached about 105 . It's fine as long as room temp is about 80-85 degrees. Just make sure that you can still provide a night-day cycle, as some people use a light lamp for heat, and vice versa.
