Hi, just got an adult blue tongue skink would like to know how often and what to feed him. I would also like to know if they can eat the shell of the snails.

Blueys love Snails !!!...They are pretty smart in that they spit the shell out in peices as they are eating them....So you have no worry of them doing damage to their stomach and Intestine...

I feed My Blueys (well minus one who is really fussy) on a diet of Low Fat Dog food , Fruits and vegetables...Usually 3-4 times a week should be enough...Around 2 table spoon (depending on how hungry they are) of dog food mixed with a table spoon of frozen or fresh Vegetables per Bluey will be enough...Some Blueys love fruit...others you will find wont have a bar of it...things like Strawberries, blueberries, apple and the occasional Banana can be added into their diet.

Blue Tongue Skinks should be kept at a Minimum of 10c (50f) and at a Maximum of 28c (82.4f) with a basking heat of 32c (89f), anything above or below that will severely effect the health of your Blue tongue...Do not let your Bluey Chill...!!!

My bts gets snails from a can. Zoo med makes the Can o' products and they have can o' snails. They come shell less so you dont have to deal with the crunch...or the slime. Griff really digs em.

Yeah there all well and good but then they arent giving their jaws a work out....their jaw muscles will turn to jelly if they arent given somthing to munch on....It is admittedly easier to buy the Can-O-snails rather than collecting live ones, because if your where i live you wont get snails as we are in drought....But they do need somthing to chew on to keep their jaws strong....

Maybe Carrot or somthing... ??
