A few ideas for bored turtles--

Doggirl2 Jun 14, 2003 03:58 PM

I have two Red-Eared Sliders that are about 2 years old. I had a lot of baby carrots left over from a recipe and decided to see if they would be interested. They LOVED it and ate the whole carrot. I was surprised they liked it so much. Even though they did eat the whole thing, they really enjoyed playing with it, and carrying it around their tank. I also gave them a grape and they enjoyed it as well. Both were great boredom busters and are very nutritional. Please try with your turtles!

Hello Doggirl2:
Red Ears seem to enjoy all kinds of food. I've never tried grapes on them but I will now. I found that mine like cut up yellow squash just as much as any other standard Aquatic Turtle food. I have also fed them different varieties of lettuce and zucchini.
Have a Great Day!!!

I just put a small bouncy rubber ball in my 1 year old's tank, and he hasn't stopped "playing" with it! He pushes it around the tank and tries to pull it under-water and it just bounces right back to the surface. Very cute to watch, and there will be no mess to clean! Perhaps an idea for those of you who don't feel like having to clean out the tanks as often due to veggie bits!
