My son needs help with a project...

tygar Apr 19, 2004 10:32 AM

Hello.
My 8-year-old son has been selected to participate in, what I would describe as a "Science Fair"... although it is more of a research project. He has chosen to do his project on our snakes... and the differences in husbandry for between corn, a B.P., and a B.C.I. (since this is what we have).
A few weeks ago, we went to a local petstore (that sadly sells wild caught B.P.'s) and there was one left... dead as a doornail (a whole other story). He was so upset... and I explained to him what I know about W.C. - and the way that they are trapped in their natural habitat and sold cheaply to petstores, etc.
He is determined to let people know that if they want to purchase a snake... purchase one that is captive born and bred. He would like to give statistics... and maybe even show some pics of the "harvesting"... and the danger to the wild population of B.P.'s. I am very proud of him for this... to say the least. For his age, he is learning a lot - and he will be able to pass this information on to other kids... ANYWAY - can anybody give me a LINK that would be helpful in finding such statistics? Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thank you so much, in advance!
Mindy
