What is the best way to cure and or prevent a RI in burms?
I, as well as many others, feel that the best way to prevent RI is to provide proper husbandry and maintain the proper temps and humidity levels. To low of a humidity level will lead to RI by causing the lungs to dry up and creating a perfect atmosphere for bacteria. So ensure that you provide the best care for your burm and all should be fine. Todd
What is the best way to keep high humidity in a 6x18 vision.
You are more than likely going to need to cover about half of the vents on the back of the cage to aliminate some of the escape routes for your humidity. There are many ways to maintain humidity levels. Probably the easiest way, which is also the most costly is to by a misting system and set it to a timer and then by experimenting you can figure out about how often you need it to go off. You can also place the water bowl over or underneath the heat source to cause a more rapid evaporation which will in direct correlation increase the humidity. Just remember to cover some of the vents in the back or it will be almost impossible to keep the humidity up. Todd
