What age would you guys consider optimal to buy a boa? Would it be 4 months or 12 months? Does this even matter if the Boa is healthy and eating? Just wondering if there is a general rule of thumb.

I would consider health over age. If the boa has had its first shed, and is feeding and completely healthy....nothing wrong with buying a baby. If you can get a completely healthy sub-adult/adult nothing wrong with that either. The only juveniles I'd recommend staying away from would be those from notoriously poor feeding specimens(as neonates) such as Green tree pythons. Generally speaking though, boa constrictors don't offer many problems in regards to feeding as babies. Take care, hope that helps you a little bit. Take care
