Beardiedragon answered your question....

"Yes all uv lights give off heat, basking spots for little guys can get up to 115F and 6" away is great. If you want to increase your UV output, put mylar behind the bulb."

I'm not sure where the confusion is? 6 inches is fine and 98 degrees is fine.

I don't know how to attach mylar to a bulb. It's not something that's required, it's only optional if you want to increase UV, but with a bulb 6 inches away from the basking spot and proper suppliments you don't really need to.

Personally I wouldn't advise putting a water bowl in at all. It can raise the humidity too much, and with the lizards crawling and possibly pooping in it, splashing water everywhere, it will be a breeding ground for bacteria. The inside of their enclosure should be warm and dry, and when they need a soak take them out and do it in a seperate tub. That way you control how much soaking they get, and they will stay much cleaner.

The basking spot is perfect. Like Beardiedragon said, the little guys need it hot, like 110-115.

I hope that clears up some confusion. I know you're excited and want everything perfect. Breathe slowly and count to ten. You're doing a great job.

If you want to use mylar or foil you need to attach it to the actual fixture that holds the bulb behind the bulb not to the bulb itself. By doing this you are reflecting the UV rays that are being sent back towards the fixture into the cage. Make sure you don't let metal touch the area where the bulb actually hooks into the fixture.

I agree with the water bowl response. More downsides than ups for keeping it in the cage. I just take mine out and soak them in the sink or a rubbermaid or use a spray bottle to mist them.
