afakasi2004 Apr 19, 2004 05:33 PM

my eggs are being incubated at 82 degrees and one of the egss has been in their for 42 days now and the egg is huge. it almost looks like its gonna explode. but the wierd thing is, is that the first layer of skin on the egg is peeling off. and u can see this grey thing behind the second layer. is it the leopard gecko baby? this is my first time breeding so im not sure. and it is sweating alot.
thanks.

Sounds like it may be getting ready to hatch.

At 82 degrees 42 days would be too early to hatch.
Honestly it sounds like someting isn't right, but all you can really do is wait and see.
Have you Double checked your temps and humidity level are they ok?

the temps are at 82 still and the humidity is at 80% and the plumpness went down some. it used to fill like it was going to explode now it feels like a regular egg. its just wierd how the sking is peeling off a little bit. the egg looks like it has stretch marks.

That sounds better, I had 2 eggs last year that looked like they had stretch marks too. The hatched and were perfectlly normal. I don't know what caused it, but they came out just fine.
