Hey everyone, I just got a gecko today and I have a question about calcium. I have sticky tounge farms minerall I that i use for my chameleon, and i wanted to see if I could also use this for my leo, or if I should get some plain calcium. What is a good dusting schedule for these guys?

Lindsay I dust every time I feed and I have a dish of calcium in there so they can eat it whenever he they want to.

Hey everybody,
I found an old container of Repto-cal that I had for my turtles from a few years ago. It says it has 6% phosphorous. Is this good or bad?

calcium with phosphorus is not good...It's probably also expired anyway.

Phosporous is usually in the food that you give them anyway. I try to stay with a supplement that has a 2:0 Ca/P ratio.

2:0 makes no sense...do you mean 2:1?...All the same...its better to supplement calcium withOUT phosphorous as they are already getting plenty of it in their food...and even giving them a dust with a 2:1 ratio they may still have an imbalance because of the poor ratio in the actual food source.

The minerall is fine...however if you use it you'll also have to buy a vitamin supplement. I would recommend just buying some t-rex sandfire icb dust....the stuff is fantastic...you just dust at every feeding and it eliminates the need for ANY additional supplementation.

I would use a calcium supplement with D3 in it. Im not sure if stickytongue has it in there...but your cham (mostlikely) has a UVB light on him, and leos (usually) dont. so the extra D3 is a must have. BUT if stickytongue has some in there, you are GOLDEN. good luck.
